hi bb,
i just checked on fsip and in their support section under the warranty tab you can see what thier warranty is.
Says 1year and they will pay for transportation (i assume they mean shipping)
but there MAY be a 25% restocking fee in cases requesting full credit and no fault was found. Also shipping charges may be charged back to the customer if no fault found.
As for what features are enabled or not on a card purchased?
they have no way of knowing unless you can advise them when they do the repair on the card or when you order it, but i doubt they will program it for you (i could be wrong though)
they are there to repair them and make sure all functions the card is capable of doing works, that's all they do. The setup is up to the dealer or tech responsible for installation.
In most cases in the service manuals there is what they call a 'rapid tuneup' procedure with basic settings for the model lift the manual is for. At least that has been my experience in the past with these cards.
As far as warranty for OEM v/s reman from the OEM supplier?
I'm pretty sure its 1yr. I have seen some reman parts have only a 6mos warranty though. I guess it all depends on the supplier and what the part is.
I was told by my SMH dealer that all parts have a 1 year warranty- I'll find out if this inlcudes this paticular card.
They had this card in stock- got it the next day. Part # was the same thru Hyster or SMH. New card is set up with Regen braking which truck doesn't have. Contacted both Hyster & SMH & was told that replacement cards are all set up with all features. Neither company would sell me a card set up exactly for this machine- Both Hyster & SMH advised me that the local dealer would have to come out & configure the card for any specifics needed.
What is the warranty for an OEM rebuilt card & new card? Who rebuilds the OEM cards- Hyster? I know Hysters price was double that of SMH on a rebuilt card.
to clarify what michael is saying about factory default settings...
it is factory default as per GE unless you get it directly from hyster
and even then you may still have to go in and set some application specific settings as has already been mentioned.
flight systems i generally dont bother with, most of my customers dont want to have to wait for it and besides they like the idea of factory warranty on new or reman cards from the oem vendor.
what is flight systems warranty period on repaired cards? ok so they have a 1yr replacement policy. 25% restocking fee? doh! unless its a special card that cost megabucks and is extremely hard to get and i have no choice for an outside repair job? i'm not a big fan of these guys...
I'm going thru this now. Replaced a EV100 card. Card is set up for all options unit may have- if your truck doesn't have all options you'll have to have the dealer come out & set card for your application. My card was from SMH (rebuilt by Flight systems I believe)
Many of the controllers come with the factory defaultr settings in them and are ready to go. Specialty functions would need to be reset. That is if ordered from Hyster. The parts man can tell you if the controller comes programmed or not, it tells in the parts manual on line.
i believe you will need a handset or gesentry and a pc, either one (gesentry requires a specific cable to hook directly to the card). The handset is much simpler for the novice.
Not sure if my memory serves me correctly or not but do you know what controller this has? is it the EV100ZX or the SEM control.... EV100 is the small rectangular card, the SEM controller is a big square box either black or gray. These units came with either one depending on how it was ordered.
it will retain whatever is stored in the dash display but the motor control parts such as 1A time dropout and pickup, powersteer timer, current limit, etc you will have to program, most likely the default paramaters will let it run but they wont be correct and could damage the motor. If Hyster has the same adjenda as Yale does when it comes to programming thier lifts their may be a rapid tuneup chart with base settings. I'll take a look.
if we replace the motor controller, will the unit reset itself or do i need to have a tool to reset it?
E60XM2 (F108) ?
EV100
64 I have not found
09 FORWARD or REVERSE direction switches are welded closed or need adjustment.
Replace or adjust the direction switches to make sure that they are both open when the direction control lever is in NEUTRAL
code 9 is fwd and reverse switches closed at the same time
*(bad directional switch or circuit, or needs adjustment)
*(short between batt pos and P4 or P5)
*(bad motor controller)
code 64 is The line driver input (at P17) is less than 12% of battery voltage.
*(connection at P17 is either faulty or motor controller is bad)
Before you go ordering a new motor controller you might want to check the wiring and connections in the connectors REAL GOOD, it could just be a bad connection.
