Discussion:
SKF encoder/sensor bearings

i have got a bradshaw tow tractor T6 with Zapi AC controller, i get an encoder error every 6 to 8 months and i have to change the encoder bearing to clear the fault. i have used the same bearing on many other motors and haven't had to change them for years. Has anyone else had this problem. Could there be a controller fault etc.

What type of horn is fitted to your tow tractor?

BT use SKF encoder bearings on the older Reflex reach trucks & they had to fit a supressor on the horn circuit as electrical spikes could blow 1 of the motor / height counter sensor bearings.

2 pin horns the suppressor was piggy backed, later trucks used a 3 pin horn with built in supressor.

We where told if a encoder bearing was ever replaced then the horn / supressor must be replaced to & recorded on job sheet else they wouldnt warranty the part if it failed again.

Fact of the week
The origin of "love" as the score zero in tennis is debated, but two main theories prevail. One suggests it's derived from the French word "l'oeuf" (egg) which resembles the shape of the number zero. The other proposes it's related to the Dutch word "lof" meaning "honour" as players might be playing for honour when scoreless.
