Thanks again. One more question. I removed the inching valve spring on top of the transmission to just check it out. It was pretty corroded with sludge, so I cleaned it up. Is there supposed to be a rubber plunger on the lower end like a wheel brake cylinder on a car?

You could use regular trany fluid, but hydraulic fluid is cheaper and has been used by OE's for years. You can also cut it 50/50 w/ ATF and hyd. fluid if you want.
