Discussion:
Quick Battery charger?

A customer has received a electric forklift rental w/ a supplied charger. This battery charger, charges this 48volt battery in 30 to 60 minutes or so. It is quite apparent that the charger is special, but is the battery special also? Is the life of the battery compromised by using this quick charge system? Is this all smoke and mirrors and pay back is around the coner, or is this real?

Thank you for any input

need more info but the short answers are: yes quick charge is for real, yes it can cycle in an hour but only to 80%, the batteries must be equalized at least weekly, yes it has a negative affect on the life of the battery, and yes in most cases the battery is modified (ie) stacked lead bars for cooling, larger and or double cables / connectors, temp sensors in the battery and with most of the high end stuff there will be a data management box on the battery so that the charger can recognize and track each individual battery in the fleet.
