Misubishi FG18N K21 engine fault E23

i keep getting an intermitent fault code E23. The code is "Throttle position sensor signal circuit malfunction" i have swapped the whole throttle body over with a different truck but the fault didn't transfer. Could there be a problem with the ECM or is more likely to be a wire breaking down?

hi leon,
Also check the pins in the connector to be sure they have not pulled out. Really sounds like a break in the wire or a wire rubbing through to frame, check for chafing along the whole harness. Good Luck

I have checked continuity of all the wires from the throttle body back to the ECM and they all test ok. But when i ever i turn up the fault has cleared.

Hi Leon,
I have gotten code E23 before on these engines due to the throttle body control wires rubbing through and shorting on the housing. Unplug the control pigtail from the throttle body and examine it very closely. Repair all damaged wires/insulation, then give the pigtail a twist before reconnecting it. This will shorten the pigtail and keep it from rubbing on the housing. Good Luck

The wiring is always the place to start with these machines.
