Jerry,

You have to take the pressures before you take a trans apart. It tells the entire story espically if you are having a slipping issue.

Pump, Converter, forward and reverse pressures can show you were to look for internal leaks that you otherwise would never know about or know to look for during your tear down.

You may get lucky and by replacing all of the sealing rings on the clutch drums and pump that you had replaced the one that may have been leaking internally and causing your slip.

But had you taken the pressures you would have known if you had a pump problem, or a clutch drum problem or possibly a controll valve problem.

I am sure that the "off color" fluid would have eventually gotten burnt had you not taken the unit out of service.

Good Luck, we have all been guilty of short cuts at one time or the other, but I have learned the hard way too.

Typically Nissan single speed transmissions are pretty bullet proof and not a real mystery. My guess is that you will find a sealing ring, port obstruction, or week control valve or that the inching circuit is not adjusted correctly, based on clutches and drums looking good.

Fact of the week
In March 2002, identical twins in Finland died on the same day in similar accidents within hours of each other. A 70-year-old man was killed by a truck while cycling; hours later, his twin brother was killed by a truck on the same road, about a mile away, before the family had been informed of the first accident.
