Discussion:
MOVEMENT

Started as a complaint with no forward, you could hear the controller whine, but didn't have enough power to pull, reverse worked well. I charged it, came back, no difference, I swaped diodes in heat sink by fwd, rev contactors, and I had fwd but no rev, actually it moved very slow in reverse, but the controller, or chopper whined really loud, I guess that would be the big capacitor on the front firewall. Put a new diode in it, and worked well untill I left got a call back, no movement what so ever, contactors kicked in and out right away. I retraced my steps by checking all connections, and replaced a lug on the cable to the buss bar on top of the fwd rev contactors. Now I have fwd again and it whines out in reverse. When those forklifts move, is the whine a chopper, or SCR sort of affair.? I'm completly back to the beginning. Any Toyota guys out there, could really use your help

difinately scr. usually a directional problem is not speed controller related as it has no idea which direction its going (about like our congress). i would go back and check the rectifiers (big ones) look very closely at the contactors sometimes when people change tips they loose the insulators behind them and that makes a frame short. but my bet is on the rec's. test them for reverse bias shorts with a high voltage continuity tester (like a handyman)
