Newer Cat/Mitsubishi/Nissan - Hour Meters??

Hello all,

I have had a few customers report that the hour meter readings have turned back...........yes turned back.....at least 3000 to 4000 hours

Anyone have this problem and what was the solution??????

Yes you got it guys, the dealers had a recall on the hour meters and replaced them.......but the techs did not tell the customer.....weird.

Just to add that the hour meters cannot be turned back, and only one time can the system be reset to 0 hours and only with factory access.
I'd go with what fixitandy has said and would guess maybe the meter panel has been replaced, whether due to defect or part of a rework.

Thanks fixitandy, We will contact the dealers with Model and Serial #'s to see if they have been recalled

first generation nissan platinum series had a recall/field mod campaign on the instrument cluster. all should have been replaced in the field with a new cluster with zero hours. I am not sure if mitsu or cat were included in that campaign. The second generation were not effected by the recall and have a completly different instrument cluster. Also, if you have a service scan tool you can read the hours from the ecm.
