Serial No location

Hi
I have an old 1980 Cat V40B witg 3 cyl perkins Diesel. Runs great now but have no brakes. Im tryin to find the serial number but it isnt stamped where its says in the manual, does anyone know where else to check in order to make finding spares easier? Thanks
