LP Regulator freezing up. Impco style

Old school Impco style fuel system. During another repair a week or so back I noticed the regulator was beginning to freeze up. I adjusted the power valve more lean and confirmed I had sufficient coolant. I checked fuel pressure on the JB2, and was was steady at 1.5, but would spike occasionally when I shut the engine off. I went on and replaced the regulator with a part in my van, but this one began to freeze after a short time as well. I returned a few days later and installed a lean Impco CA100 air valve. Test running and she still didn't thaw.
If I hold the coolant line on each side of the LP regulator, its cold. It seems I may not be getting coolant flow through the regulator, and I have bled the air there. Any suggestions??

yeah if you didn't get much flow when you pressurized it with air then it may be stopped up. If your using flush i wouldn't run it in there more than a day, that stuff is pretty caustic and might damage something if you run it too long.
What i wound up doing when i ran into that is finding a zip tie, or a piece of semistiff wire that's long or something that i could snake through there and break that stuff up. Just try and narrow down the part of the system the clog is in. In my case it was in the bypass part of the intake and poking something through there broke the stuff up and then i flushed it out. Also make sure those hoses are in good contiditon too on the inside, if they are hard or cracked at all i would replace them.

Swoop you nailed it. I can hardly blow any air through there. I drained/ added flush and water and they will run it a couple of days. If it resolves itself I'll finish flush and add fresh long life coolant. If not, to the shop to pull intake-

if you have enough coolant in the system then a flow check would be the next thing to check. I would pull lines to verify flow, you may find there might be a flow restriction at some point. I ran into this on a cat once and the silicates had built up at where the lines go through the intake and clogged it up there. I had to clean out the whole bypass system. If you find this to be the problem you may want to try a different coolant like extended life coolant. The green is notorious for build up in some systems due to it's high silicate content.

As said you should check make sure there's a thermostate and it's opening also you could have a bad water pump with fins that are bad in back or blockage in water lines before emco converter
