Discussion:
Engine revs forklift doesn’t move fwd or rev

Hi all, just recently picked up a 2007 komatsu FG25T-16. Serial 210459A. It loaded onto a trailer fine when I picked it up but when I tried to use it today for the first time it was having a hard time moving in either reverse or forward but more of a problem forward. I checked the tranny dip stick and just the tip had fluid on it. I checked the fluid level while it was running and fairly warmed up. I'm hoping the fluid is just low. I did not see any leaks underneath. What type of fluid does the transmission use. I do not have a service manual. Please help, thanks

The 'A' prefix or suffix does mean built in the USA, but they have never used Dextron. The O&M manual calls for a TO10 fluid.

There is nothing worse than a sharp image of a fuzzy concept.

All KOMATSU forklifts use a TO10 oil in their transmissions which is not typically not red in color.

Just wanted to provide an update. I added almost a 1qt of dexron fluid and the trans shifted much faster. Haven't had a chance to really use it for an extended period but it's seems to be working normally.

So I was reading another post that stated "komatsu only used atf II or III in USA produced trucks (serial # ends or starts with an "A")

My serial# ends with an A and the fluid color was red. I plan to use some dexron III fluid I have on the shelf. I didn't get a chance to take a good look but does the ATF get filled thru the dipstick hole or is there a designated plug?

I will try to update as I progress
