Discussion:
Steering issues code 5.182

Hi all,

Can someone advise what the above code is. The unit appears not to be reading the steer sensor. The issue started as intermittent but has progressed to being present at all times. Truck will not start up.

- Check the reference sensor
- Steer slightly to the right so that the
crown wheel is correctly positioned
in relation to the reference sensor.
- Check the space between the sensor
and the ridge on the crown wheel
using a feeler gauge. Nominal
measurement:
1.5 mm
- Check if there is any power supply to
S65, 9.8 - 13.5V between wires 95
and 97.
- If there is a power supply, replace
S65.
- Check if there is any short-circuit
between wires 95 and 97, and
also between 95 and the rest of the
electrical system.
- If there is no power supply or short
circuit
- replace M6
- Check the steering angle sensor
- Compare the steering angle to the

How old is this truck?

There is a known issue that affects some newer ( mid 2017 build onwards ) trucks.

Do you know if this truck is equipped with the older ZF type gearbox OR the newer Kordel type?

Fact of the week
The black box flight recorder was invented by Australian scientist David Warren in the mid-1950s. While initially met with indifference in Australia, his invention gained international recognition, particularly in the UK, and is now a mandatory piece of safety equipment on all commercial aircraft.
