Discussion:
Seized mast

Hello All,

I have a Hyundai 2.5T 3 stage container mast machine (600 hours, so quite young still). It has been in a corrosive environment and the mast will reach full height however when lowering, it hangs up and seizes in place (middle stage). I am pretty sure it is because of the build up of rusty fines and grease which becomes almost like really tacky glue.

It will eventually retract and drop down with jerking of the hydraulics but it is still an issue and is stressing the chains.

I am wondering if anyone has any advice on how to repair this problem or has come across this issue before on corroded machines?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers
Toby
