Discussion:
Shuts off intermittently

We have a Hyster H50XM lift with 5000 hours on it. For some yet to be discovered reason, it just shuts off and different times. You might crank it up and it stays on 30 seconds or you could drive it for 3 hours but it does it sometimes everyminute or two. We havea crap repair company that has been here nine times to try to fix it but they have failed miserably. Now they have resorted to just guessing and changing parts. Has anyone had a similar problem that might shed some light on this puzzle?

We had a unit that would not start- found bad vacuum lines to lock-off and a bad ground wire on the top of the valve cover

New York, New York its a heluva town..you know that The Bronx is up..and I'm Brooklyn down
Sounds like a bad ground. Remove all of the ground connections to the engine, clean them sand them and reconnect them, do the same with the harness grounds on the transmission. Check the negative battery cable for internal corrosion (thick spot under insulation). Check battery post into battery make sure it hasn't come loose internally. Most shut off problems with no other symptoms are ground issues.
