motor works but will not go forward or backward

were to look to find out why the electric motor runs but the forklift stop short from moving either way

There is a gear reduction box in between the motor and the drive axle. You probably have a sheered key or broken shaft.

"Unicarriers - it would have to be for a dual fuel unit also. Usually a bad cam or crankshaft sensor will throw a E-27 or a E-28 code on the dash panel... If it does not light up and the bulb is bad then it will not start also."
