Discussion:
Unicarriers?

Hi all

Sice the merger between tcm and nissan in 2012, unicarriers has declined in revenue year on year and also droped from nr6 to nr 7. My question is , what will happen when both nissan and tcm brands dissapair in 2015? Why would peple support a "unknown" brand like unicarriers?

There is no inside knowledge just market knowledge.

Both KION and Toyota want to be number one only one can be and only one can do this with accusations.

But both KION and Toyota have major problems in the future KION will lose the Linde name this is owned by Linde gas and both are democracies were individuals look after their own interest not the companies. Companies that change the world were all dictatorships will great leaders like Henry ford and Steve Jobs.

So based on market knowledge not insider knowledge i can say that this is a done deal if not why dont KION or Unicarrier just say this is not the case and then only take it back later in the year when they say a deal is done.

the only other company in this would have been Mits Cat but these seem to have problems in their other business and as materials handling is not their core business they won't spend the 800 million to do a deal. Toyota won't do the deal or they would have done this at the beginning before the Nissan TCM tie up

Its like i said before i have been right so far

KION are a large company and need both Unicarrier and NACCO to achieve their aim for 2020 so they will do the deal its practically already done now. KION want to be number one they can't do this threw organic growth so they have to look at accusations. Unicarrier and NACCO are both for sale so KION buying one of them is a certainty and it seems Unicarrier is the one. to start with but don't be suppressed if NACCO is not added.

Since KION shut merthyr they seem to have lost their way a bit in big trucks , big trucks sell little trucks so KION need some thing here so do Toyota and they both want to be number one. Thats why who doesn't get NACCO will go for the Kalmar industrial business. Cargotec need to concentrate on the container handling business with other companies offering better products and Sany now controlling China in this area and doing well in other markets Kalmar or Cargotec need something more and they can't be good in both so Conatiner equipment will take the lead.

KION do nothing in North America Unicarrier do OK here and NACCO turn over is around 70% in North America. Toyota do well in this market so it is no surprise that KION have gone and done a deal on this.

What will happen next is all about tech and lowering cost and both Toyota and KION now risk being the Blackberry and Nokia or the Black cabs of the materials handling world or will they do the other option and be the Apple or UBER

Its not that i have insider info i Know the market and have been right so far with both KION being bought by the Chinese and shutting merthyr even tho KION said this was not going to happen

Yes practically it will be a done deal now. It won't be announced till later this year but it will be all done and over before the end of the summer

But this will lead now to more take overs quickly especially NACCO depending on both Toyota and KION who will get NACCO will change the market place for many years to come. Or this will be the opening up of the market as these two companies dominate allowing smaller more innovative companies to come along and change things. Not only in equipment on offer but also the technology used as well to offer better services and lowering cost's

KION in a way has set this with the New 6 - 8 ton electric truck from Linde is the same chassis and i bet many components from the Still electric and diesel truck in the same range. Toyota are re-branding BT here in Europe as they push this for the warehouse equipment here. They are also doing well with Raymand in North America and both manufactures have say in the lower cost machines , KION Baoli and Toyota in Tailift.

So in the in fight for domination between what is now seen as Toyota and KION who will suffer and who will gain will there be the obvious job cuts and factory closers as these two become more efficient will dealers lose out as one company favours one brand over another. Or will we just see to big brands go up against each other to keep on dominating the market.

Looks like i'm shocked and surprised never thought a Japanese company would sell to the Chinese but Looks like KION have bought Unicarrier.

What they now do will be a challenge could be a large benefit to both Hyundai and Doosan but who is next and how will this change the market. Less independent manufactures and KION and Toyota have over 75% of market turnover will this effect choice and prices.

Still think there are a couple more shocks to come from both KION and Toyota. KION still need to strengthen in North America while Toyota have nothing really in the Big truck market. NACCO will be the next big challenge who out of these two will get them and then will the other go for Kalmar., and were will this leave Briggs

Then who else might go komastu look shot Clark will struggle some of the Chinese will go into bigger Chinese companies Mitts and CAT might look at other options but for now just looks like the big two will try to dominate

None of this is news. If one has a knowledge of history, or at least understands the history of this business, one would realize that history is again repeating itself. With that said I think you need to study the history and truly understand this business. Look at Clark Equipment in the late 70's thru late 80's. Or further back to the brokered deals between Clark Equipment and TCM shortly after WWII. Thanks MacArthur!
Nothing new here for me, just the same old garbage in a repackaged form for a different generation.
Clark Equipment sold the USA control to the Germans and Japanese... The Japanese in turn sold out this industry to China!.... China, well you figure it out. This is really a small industry, no matter what you think!

Two points here Point one will KION buy Uni carrier 100% no. No Japanese company would ever sell to a Chines company what KION now is , look at Linde Hydraulics in Germany Investment and jobs have been cut in Germany and moved to China so who ever came up with this is just a smoke screen probably to make MHI move for Uni Carrier. Will MHI buy Uni carrier yes plus Komatsu to make one large company. You are going to find that this market the materials handling market will be dominated by two countries Japan and China forget all the others these are going to be the main two. Korea will see Hyundai take over Clark and either Sammons or Doosan will buy NACCO, Jungheinrich will tye up with MHI as well and these three companies Toyota , KION, and MHI will control most of the market over 70%. KION will buy other companies but these will be mainly Chinese companies or Even Heli will buy KION.

Point two dealers the role of the Dealer will change dramatically over the next five to ten years and you will see more manufactures taking charge of sales with dealer looking after the service who will be success full in this will all depend on who will offer the best service. Now you might say well here in the US this will not happen or here in the Middle east this will not happen or even here in Europe this will not happen. If you believe this you might as well as pack shop now because you wont be around in five years time. Who will be successful in this new era will be the dealer who moves first and becomes more competitive in service with price and service offerings.

There will how ever be many winners in this hole new era and shake up and many losers as well who will win and who will lose only time will tell but one point is guaranteed the market is waking up to a new era and change is coming

It looks like Unicarriers will be using the TCM as a brand name now and not unicarriers.

I totally agree with PHEQUIP and his response shows the more things change the more they stay the same.
Although I am now retired, we we're once a TCM, or as most people call it "TMC" dealer. There was a delaer who was 2 states away that thought it would be a good idea to put a branch in our state so TCM decided to cancel us. Well about 6 months later for what ever reason they decided to pull up stakes. TCM came back to us with their tail between their legs and asked us to back up the warranty on ant trucks they had sold and we caold again be the TCM dealer. Unfortunately we agreed.
It seems like most lift truck manufacturers have good products but they back them up with bad management. If they could only figure out that we are the customer, not the end user.
