Discussion:
TCM opinions

We are currently trying to source new trucks for our hire fleet and are looking at TCM electric, gas and diesel. We have owned a few old diesel and lpg ones in the past and can't fault them. Does anyone know what the new ones are like? Any complicated electronics on the I.C trucks? We want trucks that are reliable and don't need laptops plugged in every time it breaks down. I've been told to stay away from the new TCM I.C trucks as there too much electronics but i would like a broader view on this.
Why cant the manufacturers make them like they use to?

Now we all know that meeting the emission requirements is a load of B/S, just look at what the car manufacturers are doing. Customer of our just bought a fleet of 2015 Jungheinrich trucks fitted with Kubota engines and mate those things are guzzling the gas. We used to have old yales in there and the gas consumption was around 2/3rds of what they are going through now. I wasn't really asking that in my question anyway as we all know different FLT manufacturers use different electrical systems and some are just so overly complicated its actually stupid and they are conning the end user by being able to charge horrendous amounts in call our fees.

You ask why LT are made the way they used to - simple answer - must meet emission stds that keep getting tougher. I'm certain your country has them too in the US we have OHSA basically set std for work place - air quality, then we have CARB (California Air Resources board) & EPA ( Environmental Protective Agency). More and more through the ITA, BITA, JIVA, etc they are working closer to get stds common throughout developed countries - China has their own drummer boy with not so good drums.

New TCM trucks are basically a Nissan with different name and choice of colours. Sorry don't know much about the electrics involved.
