Hi guys. I'll do my best to keep up with the technical stuff. I have limited mechanical experience, and knowledge but can handle simple advice. And frankly, any advice is appreciated.
The problem at stated in the title, I'll cold-start the machine it will run for about 10 minutes and shut down. It will not start back up until it has cooled down. I had a tech here to diag the problem and the only information he could find is that the machine drops power to the coils. It is possible other things are happening but this is all that was found. No codes or anything. The tech disconnected oil pressure and other sensors to check if ECU was responding to codes, which it is. The relays inline with the coils were swapped to see if that was it - NO.
So, power to coils is getting dropped when hot, and ECU is not picking it up. I need to know what else to have the tech check the next time he is here. His advice - replace the ECU. I strongly feel that there is more that can be done to diagnose this issue before replacing the **** ECU.
From what I've read, on other brands with similar problems the fuel shutoff soleniod, distributor module, and 5amp fuse at the injectors could be possible problem...If you advise any of these to be checked - how is it done?? (simply put - I'm not looking for a tutorial - just a dumbed down version so I can understand things when I talk to the tech). He mentioned the cam shaft sensor the last time he was here, but didn't strongly suggest a course of action other than "try a ECU from another machine" - Which I do not have....
Are there other things to ask the tech to check? Thanks in advance from this New England Newbie.
