Hyster S50XL:
s50xl really slow going up any incline.

At my work we have a hyster s50xl from the 80's. We have certified technician come in usually when we need repairs. The last time the tech came in he replaced the distributor cap, rotor, plugs and wires, and "fuel condenser"? Also it sometimes cuts out really bad when you hit the gad to go up our ramp and it barely moves, you could basically walk up the ramp faster than it would go. Thoughts? Thanks!

Check if its got points in the distributor and a condenser bolted to the side of it, it should have with this serial number if it has make sure your tech changed both as quite a few just change the points, a fault with either will cause this problem. Get the ignition timing checked as well as a rule of thumb slacken off the clamp bolt start up the truck and rotate the distributor clockwise until the tick over note changes then anticlockwise until the same happens then set the distributor in the centre of the 2 and give it another try if it improves get somebody with a timing light to set it properly. If all else fails the carb/mixer it should have is a Ca50/55 these are prone to body wear (when the XL range came out we changed lots of the things) so youll be looking at a new one

Correct Kevin i couldn't remember the model number I havent come across a M4-121G with a Ca100 on it and ive worked on lots of them. Also with an A187V serial number its should have contact breaker (points) and a condensor ive had lots of problems with these

f its got a M4-121G in it it shouldnt have a CA100 cant remember the model number but think its a CA90 its a smaller thinner carb. Theses carbs were prone to this problem they have a piston with a hard ring on it that wears the carb body and will cause the engine to run like crap under load Hyster used to sell a repair kit for it but if its that bad a new card is prob the only answer. Another thing to check has the distributor got points and a condenser in it??? Ive know a few techs who never think to change them both or even to check them Have a look if it has get them changed and see if it improves things

That will be the MAZDA M4-121G engine and an IMPCO fuel system....Model J Vaporizor and CA100 fuel mixer(carb).... CA100 might just need a good cleaning...possibly a new Diaphram put in it,and an adjustment of the A/F adjustment screw and the power valve adjustment that is under where the vapor hose comes in from the Vaporizor I have seen the same issue with other trucks and a small adjustment of the power valve at full governed RPM makes a world of difference as far as power under load.......

The distributor is on the right side if your sitting on it facing forward. And yes the vaporizer says impco on it

OR is it an AISAN fuel,system....what engine is in the truck......what is the FULL serial number of the truck???
