the resistor gets hot when battery is plugged in. wiring is okay contactors have been replaced motor test ok any sugestions where to look next. the resistor ohmed ok

Do you mean just sitting there and not operating it with the battery plugged in it gets hot? If so, then there must be a ground in one of the battery cables and one of the cables to the resistor. Unplug the battery and check to see if any of the cables on the truck show a ground to the frame.
Just because the resistor ohmed ok dosent mean its good under a load or with current flowing thru it......when resistance goes down amperage goes up(ohms law) sounds like a bad resistor but maybe someone else has more thoughts on this?
