Resetting Maintenance Reminder Light

The sequence in the book; depress accelerator pedal 15-20, let fully up for 15-20, then all the way down again for 15-20 seconds, fully up for 15-20 seconds, than half stroke down for 15-20 seconds is suppose to reset maintenance reminder. The book doesnt say do it with the keyswitch off, on accessory, on. Can anyone help?

Park brake had to be set, it was more like 17 seconds and the 1/2 throw in the manual was more like a 1/4 throw of the last sequence of reset procedure.

At the opening ceremony of the Sydney Harbour Bridge in 1932, marching bands were instructed to walk out of step as they crossed the bridge. This unusual directive was given as a precaution due to concerns about the bridge's structural integrity during its early use.
