A few questions?
Why is it being "over-cranked".
Why does it not start?
If the starting current is 400 to 430 amps, the cables should be up to carrying this.
If this was my machine i would fit another starter to rule it out. If the starter is faulty it would explain the long cranking time (slow cranking) and high current. If you have another machine the same, just swap the starters over.
