I told them that, and they say they have no loaner.

Then I ask if I can at least keep the battery (I have an older BT 6K jack with 48" forks that works fine but has no battery) and they say, nope, need the battery !

And this is not a podunk little dealer, this is the corporate headquarters of a major CAT dealer network.
