Hi scots i can't give you alot of advise regarding the pros+cons,i went down this route last year but decided against it due to family reasons,If you go on the Linde website they are looking for service engineers to relocate to Australia at the minute, they also are very helpful regarding the best way to go about it.

Also i am looking to get off the tools and have been trying to get into inspections do you work for one of the large insurance companies if so do you have any tips,i have been knocked back by a couple for not having a HNC/HND,even though i served a City+Guilds apprenticeship in FLT technology and have 20yrs experience as a engineer.
