I've had that issue when the the ignition system starts to fail. Install a timing light on any plug wire & check if the spark becomes erratic when the machine starts to act up.

"Unicarriers - it would have to be for a dual fuel unit also. Usually a bad cam or crankshaft sensor will throw a E-27 or a E-28 code on the dash panel... If it does not light up and the bulb is bad then it will not start also."
