I have seen plenty of scam emails...
Elements in such message that can help you identify a scam:
* the email address is 'generic' rather than linked to a specific company (yahoo, hotmail,...)
* you cannot find the company mentioned on the internet (even though not every company has a corporate webiste, every -decent- company is listed in some directory...)
* there is no explanation where you have been found as a contact
* the order is big and not very specific. the only specific element is the size of the order...
* I am sure there are more
If all the above elements are true with the request you receive, I would suggest to preceed VERY carefully!
