Hello all. I have a customer with a large lumberyard and he runs several 7FDU30's and one 7FDU35. I have known the operator for many years and he has always taken care of his equipment. Recently I heard complaints of the mast "hanging up" and after inspection I found that there was significant clearance between the inner and intermediate channels (FFT). The primary lift cylinder had also began to "fluid lock" and the the free lift was only about 1/2 way up before the secondary cylinders began to raise. We resealed the free lift cylinder (piston seal was crumbling) and I did a follow up a couple of days ago. Fred tells me it's still "hanging up" a huge bundle of pine 2x12's, which it lifts fine until halfway through the second stage where it quit moving. He tells me it use to lift the same size bundle in treated lumber which is heavier.
Fast forward to today. I tapped in and checked the main relief pressure. I had 2700 psi when tilting back in relief, spec is 2630 +-70 psi so nothing there. Any ideas?
