This subject is more for the end user members of this forum than the dealer network.
On another discussion someone suggested that the person should get the number off of the oil filter and go to their local parts store to cross reference it.
I can give many examples on why you shouldn't do that-if you are looking to save $$$. We had a customer who wanted us to change all the fluids and filters on his Clark. We had all of the filters except the transmission filter. Clark list price on the filter was about $12.00. We checked two local parts stores where we supposedly get a big discount for resale. Both stores crossed the number to their own filter number. One quoted us $44.00 and the other was $50.00 We have had similar situations with tune up parts, bearings, seals and basically everything else that fits a forklift truck that you might buy locally. A distributor point set that lists for $3.50 the local store wanted over $14.00 for, a bearing that can be purchased from SMH for $1.50 they wanted $39.00 for. The prices are hardly ever cheaper at the local parts store than the OEM list prices.
Unfortunately most people are duped into believing that if they can bypass the dealer then they will save huge money and that is not the case.
I love to support the local guy but remember your local forklift dealer IS the local guy
