The first question is: Do you have one pedal or two. If you only have one pedal then the first increment of the pedal should be for "inching." Then when you go past inching, you will be into the break. Inching is like putting the transmission in neutral (essentially that's what it does).

If you have two pedal, then the left pedal is inching and the right pedal is brake.
