I've been working on these trucks for 20 years it's really not that bad.
You won't be able to run a learn without superword as you know but learning a broken truck won't fix it.
You need to verify the motor is being powered. You can do this by jacking the drive wheel off the floor and with the truck off manually push the drive motor to one end (full lock) and then power the truck on. It will auto center the steering every key cycle. If it doesn't move turn to opposite full lock and try again.
If it moves one way and not the other or does nothing it will narrow down troubleshooting.
