Justin summed it up. The average pay is mid 20's per hour in the SE (Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Florida, Alabama etc). the cost of living does depend where you live. Pay is very much a factor of your experience and qualifications. Beni's are often negotiable. There is always the risk of you're fired, but as he stated there is always a need for good folks.
