ended up being the arm on the accelerator switch would not stay in contact with the foot pedal. have no idea why all the sudden was not staying in contact as arm was not broken and of course no one touched or adjusted anything. i moved the switch bracket forward alittle and bent the arm a little to make the error go away. all is well.
