Hi all.

Toyota 7FBMF40 - 11696

Changed the encoder on the drive motor of this forklift late last year for a customer. The forklift has worked 61 hours since then and I got a call from the owner this morning to tell me that the forklift is doing the exact same thing as before.

No fault displayed, select either forward or reverse and the forklift barely creeps in either direction, with a slightly jerking movement.

The battery pack was removed, stripped, cleaned and rebuilt, to eliminate leakages to the chassis, at the same time that the encoder was changed.

Customer is fastidious about maintaining the condition of the battery, so it is still spotless and dry, so I don't think a voltage leak from the pack is the problem.

Can anyone shed some light on what the issue may be?

I know that the encoders are a weak point on the AC forklifts (this truck has already had 2 replaced on the drive motor and one on the hydraulic motor) but surely you could expect more than 60 hours work from a genuine encoder bearing?
