Does a new Access 2 controller require software upgrade if replaced?

Yes update existing, replace controller, update again, do calibrations and should be good to go. You do that for all access 123 controllers on crown

Probably so, If you go to the utilities menu, you can check your software version and see if it's the same as the old one.
