I can say this...I've got 7 year old 5400s and 6 year old 7400s with over 10,000 traction miles logged and I've not lost a motor yet. The electronics are good but back that up with the quality of Raymond's service manuals I used to say my 15 year old son (who has a very basic understanding of electronics) could fix most problems.
I have not had a lot to do with Raymonds. I use to look after some Raymonds for a customer and I was always impressed by there construction and reliability. to this day Raymonds still put a lot of heavy duty plate into there construction and still manage to give them a modern appearance. When you look at the drive motors and hoist motors they are also made very robust and look like they would last 20 yrs. I cant say anything about the electronics because my experence in that area is limited.

I have 18 of the 7400s and have very few problems with them. As a matter of fact we were under a CFPM (comprehensive fixed price maintenance) program and we dropped it because the plan was costing us more than the 5 year old machines required in maintenance costs.
