Cat Lift Trucks (& Caterpillar) GP25:
Oil leak and getting hot
So I bought this 1996 gp25 with 6XXXhr I took to local cat forklift dealer. They said it needs motor! I brought back to shop and it's leaking oil from head gasket. It gets warmer than normal almost in red would guess it to hot. I ask my mechanic friend that works for cat and he said it he thinks it has a peagout motor and they are junk. Dealer said it has low compression on all cylinders. Any have issue similar or know about this? I think it needs head gasket and maybe head work. The pulley on cooling fan lock up and through belt off and was off when we got it. I think fan belt came off and it got hot and and needs head gasket and maybe some tuning up and not a $4000.00 motor.
