Now some transmission issues....

I now may know why the forklift i bought at auction was there! So, when i put it into forward or reverse the truck starts to go but doesn't have any real power...engine running fine and revs great, but there is just no forward motion. It can move around on perfecctly flat blacktop, but whenever there is a slight incline or under a load, no motion. Is it an incher issue? I'm not really a mechanic so a little leery about pulling off the plate on the transmission...any suggestions? Transmission fluid is at the "full" level (I knew to check that).

If that has the inching valve on the top of the trans, there are a couple of springs in it that pull the inching lever back into position to allow the trans to engage. Follow the brake line to the inch valve, remove the line, unscrew the cap, and you can get at the springs. It is a common problem. The springs break.
