Not charging

Mod# 6000
Ser# AT83F00901
machine would not rev up in drive or reverse but will in neutral. Verified a voltage issue with the alternator( bad diodes). Replaced the alternator and have 0 volts at rear of alt output. Thought this would be directly connected to battery positive either direct or through the starter, am I wrong?
I do have batt voltage at the exciter plug on the top of the alt
Am I missing something

You should have B+ at the alternator. I would guess you have a blown fusible link. I think it is around the battery cable fuse box area. It should be a short wire with a connector at each end. I have replaced them on Nissan trucks and they are tied along the harness. I think it should be a 100 amp part number 9130446320. Check with your CAT dealer for the correct part.

Fact of the week
In March 2002, identical twins in Finland died on the same day in similar accidents within hours of each other. A 70-year-old man was killed by a truck while cycling; hours later, his twin brother was killed by a truck on the same road, about a mile away, before the family had been informed of the first accident.
