Discussion:
no start

Have a unit with 2.4 GM engine with no start. Has no power to coil pack or lock off during crank. Also starter kicks in and out. Power comes on when key released from crank position for a millisecond. Tech from Tennant diagnosed as coil pack. Replaced coil pack and same problem. I suspect either ignition circuit or ECU but don't have section 3 of service manual for troubleshooting. Any help would be appreciated.

Same problem. Except the issue with starter. Tried finding the short with little success, just found bad grounding issues. Took starter and alternator to AutoZone to try to have it checked but unless I can give them year make and model they said they can't test correctly lol. No power at coil unit so no spark. Also check engine light came on about 5 seconds and then off and back on the same. It does that continuously. Really appreciate someone that could solve this. Also engine would try crancking by itself with key in on position out of nowhere. Not the starter or anything just engine. And same result if you tap the crankshaft sensor.
