New Equipment computers

What is everyone doing to work on the newer equipment when computers are required for reading codes and reseting ? I have the ones for the brands I service, but what do you do when its not your equipment Line ?
Thanks

if it deals with laptop program access we have to call in the dealer that deals with that brand and have them diagnose the issue.

if it is a controller that does not require laptop and a handset can be used we purchase the handset and then get the service specs from the dealer (if they are willing to give it) or try and locate it by other means ;o)
