Yale ERC050:
Motor Speed Sensor

My Yale is moving very slow and the tech that evaluated it said it needs a new encoder bearing. I've looked at the service manual and it doesn't show an encoder bearing in the electric motor. Is that another term for this part on a yale for lift?

Jerry,
a full model number and serial number would be more helpful.
but like garland said, most lifts "after" a certain year they started putting encoder bearings in the motors, these generally are in the newer AC drive control systems. Depending on your model and serial your machine may or may not have this. Also generally if your display on the dash (if you have one) would be displaying some sort of error code for this when the problem occurs unless it is hardset, then it would show it full time.
But as i mentioned at first, knowing your model and serial would tell us what system you have in the lift. THEN we can go from there.

Jerry,

Most electric motors up to a certain year have encoder bearings which read the direction and speed of the motor. This is replaceable, but the motor will need to be removed to complete. I did not see a serial number which would designate the year. The newer lifts actually have a sensor that is bolted on from the outside. Good Luck
