Discussion:
misses on startup after sitting overnite

this truck has a miss on startup after sitting all night, only lasts for a few seconds and then runs fine. another twist to this story is, it is losing coolant slowly, not leaking, no steam out of exhaust. pulled plugs in the morning before startup and looked in cylinders, one cylinder appears to be damp inside, turned motor over and there was no coolant sitting on piston. compression test showed that cylinder about 10 lbs. lower than others. also coolant is low in radiator, never in reservoir and operator says after sitting overnite radiator still has pressure in it when he removes cap. it appears to not be pulling coolant from reservoir when it gets low. any help greatly appreciated

It's a little leak that puts moisture on the spark plug while parked but when it's running combustion gases go the other way into the coolant.

Been there, seen that, bad head gasket. Make sure the head is flat before installing it.

Fact of the week
The two internal cavities in our nose called nostrils function as separate organs. Each nostril has its own set of turbinates and olfactory receptors. The two independent organs work together through a mechanism called the nasal cycle, where one nostril is dominant for air intake while the other rests and is better at detecting scents.
