Discussion:
Mast support bushing material suggestions

Hey guys and gals, I am nearing the end of the rebuilding of my 1979"ish" Hyster S30. The last item that I am working on is the mast assembly. I have the mast taken off completely and partially disassembled. To continue the standing tradition for this lift, I found damage. When I took the caps off the back of the mast brackets and removed the mast I found that the mast suffered a lack of grease. I know I tried to pump grease in when I first got the machine, but it was most likely too late by then. The mast bushing on the one side is mangled pretty bad, there is some light wear to the top of the axle tube where the bushing would ride. The bushings are resin fiber or some composite of some type, the Hyster manual has them as P/N:119588. I looked several places and there isn't a whole lot coming up. I see the bushing halves listed, but as backordered.

If I can't find a replacement I can just make a whole new set on the lathe, but what material is the best for this. I had considered G10, Delrin, bronze, or even phenolic but as this is new territory for me I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.
