Hi all, I am a newbie to this forum. I just purchased an older Toyota Forklift and am trying to find some info about it. I would like to try if at all possible and locate a service manual, though that may be tough. Here is the information I have located
Serial: 2FG25-10655
On top of the Transmission: 33121-20540-71
On the block: 1493CC
60824
259
96001
From my searches I know it is a 2nd Gen, Forklift, Gas and 5K capacity. What I don't know is year of manufacture ( other than early to late 70's). Any information that may be of use would be appreciated. I am trying to get filters, etc to tune it up. It is a nice running lift and I just want to ensure all of the maintenance is caught up.
Also, just out of curiosity, are the parts on these earlier Generation machines that same? are the filters from a 2 the same as 3, etc? or were there big changed between generations? I know a lot of equipment used the same filters for basically all of their equipment and I am hoping that is the case here.
Finally, does anyone know of a source for repair manuals? Ebay and such hasn't produced much. I am sure it is tough to find anything on something this old, but a lot of times there are electronic files somewhere.
Thanks

Hello,
I just purchsed a 2FGH25 that has a serial number less than 200 before yours.
How did you make out on your search for information and manuals?
Thanks,
Stefan Scott
23150-20171-71 located under right rear fender. As well i have Torque converter cover number is m02-fg25-40400. Need any info about it. I really need service manual and parts catalog on it. Any help is appreciated.
First of all the number is a part number and not a serial number.
02-FG25 is your model number which was made in Japan
40400 is your serial number.
These are very old machines and are getting difficult to get parts now as they are obsolete from Toyota.
Stay with WIX filters if you can as they are the best outside of OEM Toyota filters.
Those old Toyota machines were made in Japan and just keep going and going if treated right.
The manuals won't give you too much info for tune ups as they split them up in those years. You needed the manual for the engine type for all the proper info.
Thanks for the info on your signature Jetty, I'm pretty sure it'll be helpful to me in the future.
I have received a good bit of info sent in by folks. All of it is posted online at the web page shown in my signature.
Hello! i have forklift with Serial no is 23150-20171-71 located under right rear fender. As well i have Torque converter cover number is m02-fg25-40400. Need any info about it. I really need service manual and parts catalog on it. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks for the input. That is very good to know. I will remember that if I encounter issues with the transmission. So far it seems to be very strong. This lift will have very light use, so I anticipate it will last quite a while for me.
this transission used by many models of toyota and the model goes to the electronic catalog
That is what is so great about the internet and these forums. There is a plethora of knowledge out there, it is just finding the people who have it. I would imagine there are a lot of very sharp forklift mechanics on here and it is nice they share their knowledge with those of us who are more a novice than a professional :-)
Getting information on these old machines is like finding chickens teeth. Took me about 2 weeks to determine even what model engine my 3 series has in it. Looking at the Toyota Brochure (posted to the web page below) it is listed as a 5R.
Not sure at all what engine the 2 series has in it.
Toyota ships stuff all over the world, if their cars are anything like their lifts they may use diff engines in diff countries..
To tell em apart: The 5R engine has the oil filter located under the carburetor, the 4P has the oil filter located on the other side of the engine, over by the distributor.
Thanks Mrfixit. This is exactly what I was looking for. I very much appreciate it. I did find some info on the 4P motor, but probably would have gotten the wrong filters.
Both the 2 and 3 series use the same motor, Toyota 4P. The filters are different. The 2 series uses a Wix 51068 oil filter and a 42222 air filter. Points are a Delco Remy E120.
Thanks Jetty. I had come across your link in an earlier search. Some very helpful info there. It just seems odd that there is nothing at all on Gen 2 machines. It's a very sound machine and runs great. It will take a little time, but I am confident I will find what I need.
Mallboro M. Why not a toy? There are still lots of older toys in use today, so they must be doing something right.
why toy ? you can choice another
