ok...im always working with others that also are mechanics but not in forklifts.. different animal...all are chained up..thanks for the warning...So this yoke support adapter is at the complete bottom..right..i am replaceing the next seal up from bottom but need to raise piston up out of bottom where i see those lock keys to hold piston in..Then i think a can remove seals and replace using like u said a sharp screw..just making sure we r talking same area. there is also a piston craddle on this second stag seal im replacing..will i have to remove the bottom fluid control up under craddle that have the 4...1/4 " bolts?

You have to lift that yoke support adapter up and remove the snap ring on the underside so it will drop off. Please be very careful working on that, it isn't easy to replace the seals. There is going to be a brass adapter in where the seal is. That comes out first then there is the seal. I found a good way to get the seal out is to use a long sharp wood screw and screw it into the seal then pull it out. I'm warning you this is not going to be easy and can be very dangerous. Someone should help so you have extra hands.

Hold the lift lever up and wait, oil will start to fill the cylinder, it takes 5-10 seconds. Then there is a bleeder plug right on top of the cylinder, facing down. Be careful and make sure the forks are down when you remove bleeder and watch out for a oil geyser when all the air finally comes out.

Ok.. removed and replaced gasket on fluid control valve under main mast.. not to bad but now since it seems most of the hydraulic fluid has drained from main mast and line was disconnected from valve control, so I've got a complete hydraulic system airbound.. I ran forklift about 20 min but only tilt works which I never touched..I worked the control up and down but there must be hopefully a trick to bleed all this air.. anybody got any suggestions.. thanks Dave

Ok that answers that..going to remove this weekend , bottom flow control with the four bolts and hopefully replace the seals.. that seems likely where the leak is as cylinder above cradle does not appear to be leaking.. is this flow control usually a problem with these cylinders? Again thanks for all ur input.. Dave

The two bolts hold the lower yolk in the cylinder cradle. You can remove the flow control without removing the two side bolt. Removing the side bolts will allow you to remove the cylinder from the mast.

You must have dirt. There are nuts in there that you have to hold on to.

You need to remove the four 1/4" 12 point head bolts that hold that square aluminum valve on the bottom. Then the two 3/8" bolts that keep the round "foot" thing in place.

You will need to contact your local Clark dealer for a manual. They may copy the exploded view out of the parts manual.

Wow.. yes finally got someone that knows this forklift.yes the bottom shelf cylinder holder appears to leak..the bottom of piston has a packing sleeve that looks like and does unscrew with a tap of screwdriver and hammer.. does that need to be released also or do I just unbolt bottom fluid vessel.. re :4 bolts? Fluid appeared to be coming up through this sleeve..is there any manual that u could suggest to buy to give me an exploded view of piston. The manual I have only shows a single stage piston.. would really like to educate myself on this multi stage piston.. any more help would be greatly appreciated..Dave
