Has anybody heard anything about what is going on between Kion and Deutz? On Deutz's website there was a press release in December about the two companies stregthening their partnership with a new Deutz engine for Kion's premium forklifts (Linde and Still?) up to 55kW which, if I'm not mistaken, would replace the current VW engines. On Kion's site however there is zero mention of this.

Both still and Linde use the Deutz engine in the 6,000 kg - 8,000kg range so this will just be extending this to all smaller trucks
The press release on Deutz website does name Linde. It will be a new 2.2L 3cylinder water cooled turbo engine, and will be applicable to diesel and LPG truck ranges. I can't see them using two different ranges of engines in north america and europe, they will try and standardize their product lines to reduce manufacturing and procurement costs, and lower inventory requirements. As a side bar The 1401 does use a cummins but parts for those engines can be easily sourced locally so that Kion doesn't have to keep the inventory, MTU will be the same thing, at least in north america.
you will find that KION don't mention anything like this, AS it is KION it might be any one of their manufacturing business but if i had to bet i would say it was Still with linde still going with VW. But with the VW scandal in North america this might be for just the North american market for both brands
If Deutz said Linde or still by name then it would be clear KION covers them in a range of equipment. Linde new 1411 uses a MTU engine while i still believe the 1401 uses a commins
