I'd go for the manitou definitely!. The jcb is a good bit of kit for tight loading/unloading applications but would be expensive to maintain (over the top ECU's and they eat tyres!)) and has about half the life expectancy of the Manitou.
HI tHere, With any 4X4 traction system there are maintainance problems however should you keep up the greasing etc' at points which should be marked on a sign on the mast/boom then problems are very rare.
Main things I have encountered are loose bolts and fittings!

Well you don't have to mess around with high tech electronics like JCB :)
We have one and only BT425 here and never had a problem with it. Hope it stays like that...it's over 8 years old...
manitou bt425. is that the buggiescopic , horrible little things to work on. full day job to change the radiator.
linesman,
I mean maintenance due to wear and tear. Sometimes ECUs are to complicated. May be Manitou BT 425 are better. What do you think guys?

I dont think they are that good of a machine. Transmission is ecu controled sunstrand and you need software, the 4 wheel drive system is a joke, **** under the wheels and they get stuck!!
i think most repairs need a laptop, can't do much without it. The not bad when the running.
kris
are you talking about operators daily maintenance, or maintenace due to wear and tear
