Discussion:
"Industrial" verison GM 4.3l Vortec? Information on them?

Striking out everywhere! Have a 1996 Yale with a 4.3 and we are replacing the engine. Even though it is a 1996, the engine seems to follow along with the automotive 1995 TBI specs. It has the same exact TBI intake, steel stamped oil pan, and older style distributor.

We are trying to install a 1996 "vortec" even though the old Yale engine says Vortec on it. The newer style engine had the 2 piece intake, Aluminum oil pan, etc. I am trying to get this adapted over and realizing no one knows a thing about these engines.

Just say "industrial" and you can hear pins drop. I am trying to learn what all is different about the fork engines? I have heard bigger valve stems, possibly stainless valves, hardened seats, etc. Is that about it? Someone else mentioned the cams are same as auto spec.

This fork won't get many hours so not super worried about the valvetrain but I certainly would like to know! We might want to keep the other engine and rebuild it for something else.
