Discussion:
Hyd oil in crankcase

I have a customer with a perkins 4 cyl gas motor in a V90E
that is leaking hydraulic oil into the crankcase. It was brought to my attention that there may be more than one pump connected to the motor,a second one for running the power steering and that the main hyd pump may not be the cause...has anyone run into this before?..thanks

We had a Cat with a Perkins and it was the hydraulic pump. Pump faulty, causing movement on the output shaft and wore the seal and bushing out. Had to replace the whole pump. Not a very big job, parts were reasonable

only if the hyd pump has a hair line crack under the silent chain cover causing engine to fill with HYD oil how fast does it fill the crank case and multiple pumps is only on electric trucks or large trucks

At the opening ceremony of the Sydney Harbour Bridge in 1932, marching bands were instructed to walk out of step as they crossed the bridge. This unusual directive was given as a precaution due to concerns about the bridge's structural integrity during its early use.
