Horn Honking

When you try to start my S40FTS forklift the horn starts honking. What causes this?

Low battery will throw a fault code. You may have a horn that is about to fail. These horns are smart horns, they have three wires connected. There is positive and negative at the horn at all times. The VSM sends a signal for the horn to sound. We have had horns do the pulse beep when they get moisture in the connector at the horn. This problem seems to happen more with a low battery.

I've seen this happen twice on a Yale and never figured it out. It's kind of scary. Thank goodness the operator knew how to shut it off because I didn't have a clue.

Update~
I got some charge on the battery and went out and started it, no honking.
Low battery warning? Never has done that before.

By the way, it's an intermittent honk, like a one second burst every 3 seconds

I also should point out, even after you turn the key back off, it keeps honking until you push the horn button on the steering wheel, then its like it resets.

It's ok on fuel, normally this one just gives you a light on the dash for low fuel.
No fault code, the battery was low and it wouldn't quite start. Normal for this forklift as it gets started and run for a few minutes and shut off before it has time to recharge from the start. I have a charger on it now.

What happens when it starts? The new trucks have low fuel level warning. Are there fault codes showing on the display?

The use of "hello" as a telephone greeting is attributed to Thomas Edison. He is said to have suggested it as a simpler alternative to other greetings, such as "Do I get you?" or "Are you there?".
